Cece’s Story

Cece is a young person with Down Syndrome, who like many other young people her age is eager to grow in independence. For Cece and her family, having access to trusted support at Kids has made a real difference to their lives.

How Kids has supported

Cece enjoys attending one of our Adventure Playgrounds, where she can spend time with her peers in a safe and supportive environment. This space gives her the freedom to socialise, explore activities she enjoys, and build confidence, all while being supported by a familiar and experienced team.

For Cece’s mum, knowing there is a trusted environment where her daughter is supported brings real reassurance. She explains that staff “keep Cece safe and make sure she has time interacting with her peers in a safe, structured environment.”

A memorable experience at Comic Con

More recently, Cece joined the Kids team at MCM Comic Con. She assisted on both the Kids awareness stand with the tombola, and also upstairs in the Quiet Room, which Kids hosted for visitors needing a calm space. She embraced the experience and played an important part in helping others enjoy the event.

Following her day at Comic Con, Cece’s mum shared:

“Cece absolutely loved today. The rest of the family, especially her brother, are so jealous! Cece has not stopped talking about how amazing it was since she walked in the door. I don’t know if parents tell you guys enough, but we are so lucky and grateful for all you do for our kids. Being parents of children with special needs isn’t always easy; it can be quite scary at times. But having all you guys in our corner and there for our children is an absolute blessing, and I just want to say thank you to you all for all you do. Please know you are appreciated.”

The impact

For Cece, experiences like Kids’ Adventure Playgrounds and MCM Comic Con are about far more than activities – they are moments of growth, joy, and independence. For her family, knowing she is supported by people who understand her needs and keep her safe brings real reassurance. Together, these opportunities help young people feel included, valued, and supported as they build confidence, independence, and friendships in a safe and welcoming environment.
