Christmas appeal

This Christmas, your support can transform lives.

Because childhood should be joyful. Not defined by what children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities cannot do.

There are 2.7 million disabled children and young people in the UK, and their families face daily challenges that don’t stop for Christmas. The care, the sensory needs, the pressures; it all continues.

But you can make a real difference. Your support can provide families with practical guidance, expert advice, and a community that truly understands their journey.

Through Kids’ support services, including specialist nurseries, short breaks, play and social opportunities, and online courses, families are able to access practical guidance, build confidence, and give their children the same opportunities to play, learn, grow, and thrive as any other child.

“Kids charity has supported us through some very tough times and given our son a space he can truly be himself in which we will forever be thankful for.”

The difference you could make…

One child’s parents were unsure how to support them when school suggested an autism assessment. Through Kids’ Autism Awareness course and Teen Life programme, the family learned practical ways to help their child navigate life and communicate their needs. Today, the child is more regulated, expressive, and thriving at school – and the family feels empowered and understood.

James, 17, found friendship, confidence, and a sense of belonging through Kids’ Youth Voice group. He’s represented young people at national events, campaigned for inclusion, and enjoyed trips and activities that helped him realise he’s more than his label. With Kids’ support, James now embraces his future with confidence and self-worth.

A 15-year-old from a Navy family faced anxiety, sensory challenges, and struggles with confidence and social situations, alongside a diagnosis of Autism and ADHD. Through Kids’ Understanding Me Young Person workshops, they developed practical strategies to manage their needs, celebrate their individuality, and the confidence to be themselves.
