All Voices at the Table

Every child and young person deserves to be included, supported, and understood. But right now, too many families are being held back by a SEND system that simply doesn’t work.

We need your support to help us put more resource into influencing Government policies and legislations to create a SEND system that works for all.

Urgent change is needed

The SEND system is not working for the 2.7 million disabled children and young people in the UK. Across England, families are facing delays, confusion, and inequality in accessing SEND support. Professionals are under pressure with no time given for the SEND training they need to do their jobs.

To drive real change, it’s crucial that young people, parents, and carers are truly heard. This year, we’ve created more opportunities than ever to amplify the voices of disabled children and young people, and their families – bringing their lived experiences directly to MPs, Civil Servants, and local Government officials.

Here are some examples of our impact:

  • We’ve met with Bridget Philipson, Secretary of State for Education, to highlight the challenges families face and the support they need.
  • Parents from our Wakefield Support Awareness Project met with Yvette Cooper MP & Foreign Secretary to share their experiences with the SEND system.
  • We submitted evidence to the Education Select Committee’s inquiry into ‘Solving the SEND Crisis’ and many of our recommendations were included in the final report.

With your support, we can go even further.

Your donation helps us put more resources into this vital work, push for meaningful improvements in the SEND system, and ensure every child and young person is supported, not sidelined.

60% of children avoid school because they don’t get the SEN support they need.

80% of young people said getting support earlier would have improved their mental health.

“Kids like mine are being ignored by the system and school, and it makes me very angry and upset, as I don’t know what else I can do to help them.”

“Why do they not listen to parents? We know our children the best. I am exhausted of fighting for support for him.”

How your donation makes a difference

We know how important influencing policy and legislation is for families, and we’re doing a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure their voices are heard.

With the upcoming Government’s Schools White Paper, it’s more important than ever that families’ lived experiences shape decisions. We’re pushing for real, lasting reform – but we need your help to keep this work going.

Your donation gives us the resources to:

  • Speak up for families at local and national levels by influencing parliamentary debates and providing evidence to committees.
  • Influence Government policy and legislation by lobbying for stronger laws and greater accountability in SEND provision.
  • Support young people and parents to engage with their local MPs and decision-makers.
