About Janet

Janet Ayoola is a qualified social worker and experienced safeguarding, governance and quality assurance leader with over 15 years’ experience working across children’s services, charities and faith organisations. She currently works as a Child Protection Conference Chair and has built a portfolio of governance roles focused on strengthening organisations that support children, families and vulnerable people. Her expertise includes safeguarding assurance, independent reviews, organisational learning and supporting boards to provide effective oversight of quality, risk and culture.

Alongside her executive career, Janet has extensive board and committee experience across the charity and housing sectors. She is Chair of the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel for the Diocese of Southwark, a Trustee of SignHealth, and an independent safeguarding member of Guide Dogs’ Audit and Risk Committee. Janet is also a member of the Care and Support Committee with Riverside, a large registered social housing provider. Through these roles, Janet works with trustees and executives to strengthen governance, improve service quality, provide constructive challenge and ensure organisations remain focused on delivering safe, effective and person-centred services.

Janet is passionate about improving outcomes for disabled children, young people and families. She believes strong governance, effective safeguarding, and meaningful engagement with the people who use services are essential to building organisations where children can thrive. Throughout her career, she has championed collaborative working, continuous improvement and learning from lived experience to improve practice.

Outside work, Janet enjoys strength training, baking, and travelling with her family. She lives in south-east London with her husband and two children.
