This summer, teams across Kids have been bringing children, young people and families together through a packed programme of activities and days out. From beaches and wildlife parks to creative workshops, sensory activities, summer clubs and playschemes.
Here are just some of the highlights from across our services…

Our Bracknell service enjoyed a fantastic day out at Beale Wildlife Park.
Children and families had the chance to see a variety of animals, enjoy a ride on the mini train and have fun in the play park.
It was a brilliant opportunity to spend time together, explore somewhere new and make some special summer memories.

Our Dudley summer playscheme has been packed with activities, including circus skills sessions, open theatre sessions and trips out to the SEA LIFE Centre and the beach.
From developing new skills to getting creative, the programme has given children lots of opportunities to explore their interests, try something different and have fun.

Our Lincoln service has been bringing children and young people together through wellbeing and activity days. The days have included bouncy castles, fun games and plenty of opportunities to play, be active and spend time with others in a welcoming environment.

Our Teen Sessions in Shropshire, have given young people a fun, safe and supportive space to spend time with peers. With activities including arts and crafts, music, games and creative workshops, the sessions have helped young people build confidence, make friends and develop social skills, while giving parent carers valuable time to recharge.
Our Kids Summer Holiday Club has had an action-packed summer, with children enjoying trips to Pinewood, Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Honeysuckle Farm and the Woldies, as well as beach days, swimming, soft play, Gravity, foot golf, sensory play, crafts, water games and a relaxing trip on Tilly the Canal Boat.
Our Inclusion Service also held a summer wellbeing day at the beach, followed by ice cream at Mr Moo’s – with one parent/carer sharing, “they have never done this before!” highlighting just how important inclusive experiences like these can be.

Our Norfolk services have been enjoying a summer full of creativity, sensory activities and adventures. Children had fun making PomPom Monsters and sensory bottles, and there have also been trips to Redwings Horse Sanctuary, as well as games cafés and craft sessions.

In Wakefield, young people have been enjoying craft and LEGO sessions throughout the summer. The sessions have provided a great chance for young people to meet others, spend time with peers and have fun in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

– Parent
For many families, finding activities that are inclusive and able to meet their child’s needs can be difficult, particularly during the long summer holidays.
At Kids, we create spaces where disabled children and young people can have fun, try new things, build confidence, develop skills and connect with others, while feeling comfortable, welcomed and supported.
For parent carers, these activities also provide a chance to take a well-earned break, connect with other families and enjoy some time to recharge, knowing their child is happy, having fun and making memories.
Every child deserves the chance to enjoy the summer holidays, have fun and feel included.
A huge thank you to all our amazing staff, volunteers, families and everyone who has helped make this summer so special.
