The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Services offer information, advice and support for parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This service is also offered directly to young people.

The service is free, impartial and confidential.

KIDS SENDIASS have developed resources providing information and advice for parents, carers, professionals and young people.

It is a legal requirement that all local authorities have a SENDIAS service and KIDS provide a number of these services across the country. Each KIDS SENDIAS service has a local page with their contact details, local information and local resources.

Hello and Welcome to your local SENDIAS Service

We are a free, confidential and impartial service, which offers accurate information, advice and support to parents and carers of children and young people with SEND.  We understand it can be difficult at times and our approach is to empower our parents and carers by providing them with information on their rights and guidance on the legal framework that all schools and local authorities adhere to.

Our experienced team of local advisors also provide this independent advice directly to young people aged 16 up to 25 years with SEND.



We strive to empower our parents, children and young people to participate in any decision-making processes and assist you to make informed decisions

We understand there will be some parents/carers who may not be happy with the school the Local Authority (LA) have named in Section I of their child’s EHC Plan.  If this is the case for you - Lewisham SENDIASS are here to support you.

KOOTH's Frequently asked questions (FAQ's) from children and young people

KOOTH is a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy accredited service, provides a free, safe and non-judgemental place for young people to connect with others and know they are not alone. They have instant access to self-help materials, live moderated discussion forums and tools such as online journals and goal trackers. Young people can also contribute written pieces of work reflecting their own experiences, as well as accessing drop-in or booked sessions with professional counsellors from 12pm-10pm weekdays and 6pm-10pm weekends. Kooth is available to young people aged 11-25 in Bexley, Bromley and Lewisham. Please email [email protected] for further information.

If you are struggling emotionally and looking for strategies to help you cope or just need to talk to someone who understands the extra challenges you face or someone who can point you in the right direction to get the support you need for your family, CONTACT’S Listening Ear Service could be just what you are looking for.  They offer free, 1-1 telephone appointments with one of their friendly support advisers for parent/carers looking for a listening ear, reassurance and practical and emotional support.
