SENDIASS

The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Services offer information, advice and support for parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This service is also offered directly to young people.

The service is free, impartial and confidential.

KIDS SENDIASS have developed resources providing information and advice for parents, carers, professionals and young people.

It is a legal requirement that all local authorities have a SENDIAS service and KIDS provide a number of these services across the country. Each KIDS SENDIAS service has a local page with their contact details, local information and local resources.

KIDS SENDIASS

KIDS is one of the leading providers of Special Educational Needs and Disability Information Advice and Support Services (SENDIASS) which provide information, advice and support around special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The services are free, impartial, confidential and accurate. The services are for children and young people aged 0 – 25 who have or may have SEND, their parents and carers.

As part of the Children and Families Act 2014 it is a legal requirement that all local authorities ensure children and young people with SEND and their parents have access to a SENDIASS service. As statutory services (ones that must be provided by law) SENDIASS are all funded by the Local Authority (LA). However, they are all expected to be at ‘arm's length’ of the local authority and to provide impartial information, advice and support. You can read KIDS SENDIAS impartiality policy here.

KIDS SENDIASS work to the Minimum Standards for SENDIASS. You can watch this short animation explaining more about the minimum standards.

KIDS

KIDS is a national charity, founded in 1970, that provides a wide range of services to disabled children, young people and their families in England.

We aim to empower disabled children and young people to develop their skills and achieve their aspirations. We create opportunities for them to take part in play, learning, leisure, skills training and social activities. Our success is based upon building a close partnership with parents, carers and siblings and helping them find solutions to the obstacles they meet in daily life.

KIDS’ vision is a world in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations.
