What is this workshop about?

A six-week workshop series aimed at parents of children and young people with SEND living in Sandwell. It focuses on empowering you to understand yourself better, and think about your strengths, values and triggers as a parent of a SEND child, as well as helping you to develop longer term strategies of support and self care.

Programme details:

21st Sept – Parental Resilience
This covers self care, building support networks and creating time to focus on parental mental health.

28th Sept – Sleep
This covers the impact of sleep deprivation, understanding sleep cycles, common difficulties with sleep and routines.

5th Oct – Sensory Needs
This looks at understanding the range of sensory needs and providing strategies to meet these needs.

12th Oct – Behaviour as a Communication
This looks at understanding behaviours, the difference between meltdown and shut down and looks at strategies to combat these.

19th Oct – Practical Skills
A more hands on session to look at different activities that can be used to engage young people

2nd Nov – Signposting
Looking at other local organisations that can help support
