About Mark
Mark is an experienced Chair and CEO, having worked at Board level in both the public and third sectors over the last twenty five years. His previous executive role being CEO of the charity Young Epilepsy, which works for greater inclusion in education and wider opportunities for children living with the long term health condition and associated additional needs. Prior to that, he was COO for UNICEF UK, the leading child rights charity and also a Trustee of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. His other current Trustee roles include Chair of St Martin in the Fields homelessness charity and the Froebel Trust, which funds research and practice development in early years education.
He has a strong commitment to upholding children and young people’s rights, inclusion and voice – to ensure equity in the opportunities that all children can access. This was his motivation to join the Board of Kids along with the charity’s clear vision and ambition to better support more children and young people with special educational needs or disability. Mark is originally from Northern Ireland and is a graduate of Queens University Belfast. He lives in London and is married with two grown up children.
