Taking on the London Marathon for team Kids

Richard is taking part in the 2018 London Marathon and will be fundraising for Kids. He shares why he decided to join team Kids for the most popular marathon in the world.

Getting my place for the London Marathon

I entered the London Marathon in 2010 and it’s been my dream to run it again. I decided to enter one last time in 2017 but unfortunately didn’t get in so I decided to run for a charity as I knew it would be my last marathon. I started to look for a charity and with so many options, I wanted to run for something close to my heart and that’s when I came across Kids. I emailed and was really happy when I got a place straight away.

Why I chose Kids

The reason I chose to fundraise for Kids is because I have a son who has Down’s syndrome, autism and learning difficulties and I saw that they provide hope and practical support for families just like mine. Fundraising is very important to charities like Kids so i know my money will go towards providing vital services for disabled children.

The support I’ve received

Kids has been fantastic at keeping me motivated throughout my training including sending hints and tips for nutrition and planning for the big day. If you are thinking of taking part in a challenge event, i would definitely recommend joining Kids; not only are they supportive but they are a great charity.
