Kids Loud Mouths group wins another three years of funding

Kids Yorkshire was awarded three years of funding from The National Lottery to continue the incredible work of our Young Persons Participation Group, Loud Mouths.

About Loud Mouths

The project is led by the young people with these three aims in mind:

  • Young people will be supported to develop their own identity, sense of independence and ambition.
  • Young people are able to influence local policy and practice development, working collaboratively with others for the benefit of their community.
  • Young people will build their confidence and self-esteem to self-advocate and support others to become involved to widen engagement.

Pioneering participation

We enable the young people to develop happier and stronger relationships with each other, to understand difference and the power of the collective; to develop good links and a sense of trust, working together with local decision makers. We support the young people to make places ‘safe’ in the community that they live in.

The Loud Mouths are pioneering participation and young people’s engagement in the city of Hull and nationally. This group are giving young people with SEND the opportunity to actively be involved in the decisions that affect their lives and the lives of all young people with SEND. The group is a diverse range of young people of all abilities working together to achieve a common goal; to have a voice and to be heard. This diversity makes them wonderful and unique. You will not meet a more deserving group for recognition or awards for celebrating unity.

Claire Crosbie, Senior Regional Fundraiser said:

“We are so thrilled to have been awarded this funding and would like to say a huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund and to all the National Lottery players for making this possible. The group has become so established within the City over the past four years, we want to ensure that this amazing group of young people continues to have their voice heard.”
