How does the service work?

The service will ensure disabled children are safe, secure and happy whilst within specialist childcare, allowing parents to work, attend training or to take a break in caring. The service provides children with opportunities to enjoy play activities, develop interests and to learn, alongside opportunities to be included within their communities. The service can be provided in a group based setting or individually within the home of the child to meet their individual requirements.

KIDS workers can support children in group based activities or individually through taking the child or young person out into a community setting, to do something they enjoy or would like to try such as going to the cinema, bowling or to the local swimming pool. This enables them to have a positive experience whilst giving their families a break from their caring responsibilities.

Alternatively, a KIDS worker can care for the child or young person in their own home while the rest of the family go out, or accompany a family on an outing supporting all members of the family to have an enjoyable shared experience.

Our aim is for children to receive care that meet’s their individual requirements and interests and allows parents to work or take a break from the caring role in the confidence that their child’s needs are met.
