KIDS, deliver a specialist childcare service to provide holiday care and wraparound childcare for children and young people, aged 0-18 years living within the Wakefield District, with very complex care needs and/or disabilities.

Please view the statement of purpose report here

How does the service work?

Childcare is provided where children’s needs cannot be met in mainstream childcare. KIDS can provide specialist childcare in the home (registered with  Care Quality Commission) or specific holiday clubs (registered with Ofsted) to meet the needs of children with more complex needs.

Who is the service for?

The service is available to parents of children with a statement of Special Educational Needs or a Education, Health and Care Plan who are unable to access mainstream childcare due to their very complex care needs and/or disabilities aged 0-18 years living within the Wakefield District, whose parents/carers and significant others are working, training, volunteering or wishing to take up a work opportunity.

How much does it cost?

There is a charge to parents that is equivalent to that in mainstream childcare provision.Parents might also purchase the service using their Direct Payments, for details on this please speak to the Registered Manager.

We are also able to receive Childcare Voucher as part of an employer Salary Sacrifice Scheme. To register your childcare voucher provider with us so we can receive payments please discuss this with our Registered Manager.

Childcare will be invoiced to you and you can choose your payment method either cash payment at the office, direct debit, or cheque. For further details please see our statement of purpose.

This is not an ‘open access’ service. There is a criteria  and a process for referral

How to access this service:

An assessment process  undertaken prior to an eligibility and funding discussion at the Local Authorities Education Health and Care plan panel who decide what support is appropriate against an agreed eligibility criteria. If approved the Local Authority subsides the care provided to allow the level of support required. The parent can then refer to KIDS to provide the care.
