Share our passion for supporting disabled children, young people and their families.  Become a KIDS Trustee

KIDS is unique in the charity sector; it is the only national charity  solely dedicated to disabled children and young people no matter what their impairment or disability.  It has a strong history of developing innovative services, including Home Learning, Portage, Parent Partnerships, and adventure playgrounds.

KIDS has been in existence for 47 years. We now support 11,000 children and young adults; we have a current income of £11 million and employ 250 staff (supplemented by 600 sessional workers).  We, like most charities, face a challenging environment.  The increasing focus on cuts in Local Authority spending, which represents a sizable portion of our funding, is particularly important to KIDS and we have developed a robust strategy up to 2020 to provide the framework for continued operating and financial stability – and growth – to move forward.

We seek 2 new trustees who will challenge us to be even better at delivering quality services and have the greatest positive impact for the children and young people we support.

We would welcome applications from highly-talented individuals who have experience at Board level in other public or private organisations, or other similar experience, who will share our values and our passion to make a difference to the lives of disabled children and young people.

We would particularly welcome applications from people with skill, expertise or knowledge of:

  • fundraising
  • marketing/communications/social media
  • human resources

We need strategic thinkers with excellent communication skills, the ability to assimilate complex information and ask challenging strategic questions. You will be jointly responsible for:

  • setting strategy and monitoring implementation
  • agreeing the annual business plan and performance targets
  • approving and monitoring the budget and risk
  • monitoring compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements

The Board meets in alternate months six times a year.

If you wish to talk to someone first, please contact Tina Patel, PA to the Board (020 7288 7152) who will arrange this for you.
