The East HUB offers information and support for parents and carers of disabled children and young people aged 0-19 in Hertfordshire.

How does the service work?

The East HUB provides free and impartial support over the phone, by email or face-to-face (including home visits). The help provided includes the following:

  • Helping you find activities, groups and training
  • Providing information about benefits and parking
  • Supporting you at meetings about your child
  • Giving help with relevant forms and letters
  • Signposting you to a range of local services for disabled children and young people including specialist services
  • Keeping you informed with regular newsletters and updates
  • Helping to develop inclusive provision in the community
  • Providing a venue to meet for support and networking

We additionally offer:  

  • A toy and resource library - the catalogue can be viewed here
  • Access to social story software
  • Accessible and friendly spaces for parents and professionals to meet (booking required)
  • Access to a closed Facebook group just for Parents/Carers here

Who is the service for?

Any parent or carer of a child aged 0-19 with any disability or additional need living in Hertfordshire. Professional enquiries are also welcome.

How much does it cost?

The HUBs are a free service.

Membership fees for Toy Library:
Pay as you go scheme - £5 per year, then borrowing fees 20p-£2 per item
Unlimited borrowing scheme - £5 per year , then £20 and no more borrowing fees for 1 year
(Note: deposits are required for some larger items which are applicable to both schemes)


The HUB projects can be contacted Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00, excluding Bank Holidays.
Toy library "play and stay" toy sessions at the East HUB run every Thursday 10:00-11:30.
