Corporate team volunteering not only offers valuable support for our areas but also gives participants the opportunity to give back to the community, demonstrate different skills and abilities and allows different departments to work together to support disabled children.

Ways to volunteer

"Our volunteering experience was a great success. Not only did we gain a sense of achievement to make an obvious difference to the site we were working at, but it was also a great opportunity to build on team spirit and camaraderie. We returned to the office safe in the knowledge that we had made a difference."   RBS volunteer

Why not do something different for your company team building day with some hands on volunteering at one of our adventure playgrounds?

KIDS operate four inclusive adventure playgrounds for disabled children and young people between the ages of 5 -19 across London:

  • Hayward Adventure Playground, Islington
  • Lady Allen Adventure Playground, Wandsworth,
  • KIDS Adventure Playground Hackney
  • Chelsea Playground

Each site varies but usually includes a large outdoor space containing sensory gardens, grassed and tarmac areas, free play areas, sandpit and various adventure play equipment. There is also an indoor play centre which includes an art area, IT facility, soft play room and kitchen.

To find out more about one of our adventure playgrounds, watch this video.

Team building days

Our team building days give our volunteers the opportunity to get stuck in with projects such as gardening, cleaning, painting and DIY to make our playgrounds a great space for children to play.

We can accommodate teams of up to 20 volunteers at our London Playgrounds. Contact Ella Mayne to receive our volunteering calendar or alternatively let us know a date you had in mind and we can aim to accommodate.

We know that a team building day isn’t complete without a social element. Whether this is organising a nice lunch to be delivered to site or being able to reflect on your achievements at the end of the day in a local pub or with a barbecue on site, KIDS can coordinate this for you.

Siblings Group Trips

KIDS provide support to the siblings of disabled children aged 6-14, in the form of our Siblings Groups. All of the children who attend our activity clubs have a role in caring for their sibling. They take on a lot of responsibility at a young age, and they often miss out on ‘treats’ that many children take for granted due to the constraints placed on them and their family

KIDS Siblings Groups provide an opportunity for children to meet others who understand their situation, build friendships, have a break from their caring responsibilities and enjoy fun experiences that every child deserves. In order to provide extra special experiences, we need volunteers to chaperone our siblings group outings.

During the school holidays we take on teams of up to 5 volunteers to escort our siblings on trips to various activities such as bowling, a meal out, a theme park or the seaside. These outings are made possible by the donations and support from our corporate partners. Could your company help make a trip possible? For more information please contact Ella Mayne.

"I think it is fair to say all of us had an absolutely amazing time yesterday. The children and volunteers were fantastic and all so inspiring. It was hard to know who had more fun – us or the children! Though we were exhausted by the end of the day we left feeling exhilarated and really humbled." Rachel Mason, Corporate Volunteer

Regional Volunteering Opportunities

As well as our London based opportunities, KIDS has regional centres which need teams of volunteers to help with maintenance and upkeep. These are located in:

South Gloucestershire, Keynsham, Fareham, Hull and Lincoln.

For more information on volunteering at any of these locations please contact Ella Mayne.

Individual Volunteering

Throughout the year we have ad hoc volunteering opportunities such as joining our support team at the London marathon, helping us with in store bucket collections and giving talks on the work of KIDS to groups and organisations in the local community.

At KIDS we are always looking for people to share their skills. Could you help to entertain and develop disabled children through sharing your love for art, music, performance, cooking etc.?

For more information on individual volunteering please contact Katie Ruckert.

Benefits of volunteering

Volunteering not only helps the charity by providing much needed resources, but also benefits the company by creating the opportunity for employees from across the business to meet and work together to achieve an end goal. All of KIDS’ volunteering opportunities provide the volunteer with activities that have an immediately visible impact on the charity meaning that employees will come away feeling satisfied that they have made a difference.

Hear from our volunteers

We run over 35 volunteering days each year with organisations including: Credit Suisse, Disney, Ares Management, Goldman Sachs, Reed Elsevier, RBS and Bank of America to name but a few.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the day and really found it extremely rewarding. KIDS is a wonderful charity and a cause that really struck a chord with me and made me take a step back to think and put our working lives in perspective." Adam, Corporate Volunteer

Covering our costs

Whilst we fully appreciate the time being dedicated to KIDS by the company on their volunteering day, we must be realistic about the costs involved for the charity. We aim to provide you with a high quality team building day across all of our volunteering opportunities and in order to ensure that the days are safe, enjoyable and worthwhile we do request a donation towards the charity. More details can be provided on request.
