Katie, a KIDS Regional Fundraiser for the South West, has been documenting her training progress for the Bath Half Marathon. Now Katie gives us a post-event reaction and whether or not she would consider taking part in another KIDS challenge.

How did the event/challenge go as a whole?

It was amazing. I absolutely loved it! From training throughout the winter, to fundraising, to the event itself – just brilliant.

Did you complete the challenge within your ideal target time?

I would have liked to have completed the Bath Half in under 2.5hrs but unfortunately just missed this by 8 minutes. I actually didn’t mind though as I ended up running the whole way! Never thought I’d achieve that. Plus this gives me room for improvement on my next run….!

What did you enjoy the most about the day?

The atmosphere. It was unbelievable. It’s hard to describe unless you’ve been to a huge event like that but it was such a wonderful thing to be part of. From the music along the route, running with others doing it for fantastic charities and seeing the great KIDS cheer points really kept me going! Oh and the finish line… that was a good feeling!

What was the hardest part about the challenge?

The training I think. I trained as much as I could for it and pushed myself to go out throughout the winter, but always felt amazing afterwards. Weirdly on the day, I didn’t actually struggle as much as I thought I would. The atmosphere and running with my friend Fiona really helped, plus I took it really slowly.

Would you take on another challenge as part of team KIDS in the future?

Of course, it’s such an incredible charity and I really felt like I was part of a team on the day.
