KIDS is delighted to receive £5,000 from Derwent London Community Fund to support the disabled children and young people who attend our Hayward Adventure Playground.  Funding will go towards providing new outdoor lighting to help reduce isolation for disabled children and young people as they continue to access the playground in the winter months.

The challenges of COVID-19 have meant that our services have had to adapt, with a greater focus on outdoor activities at KIDS Hayward Adventure Playground. The funding from Derwent London Community Fund will allow us to increase the number of children we support as we plan for exciting evening outdoor activities.

Derwent London is one of London’s most innovative office specialist property regenerators and investors and is well known for its design-led philosophy and creative management approach to development. Launched in 2013 they have a dedicated voluntary Community Fund, as part of their ongoing sustainability programme and commitment to developing community engagement.

KIDS Hayward Adventure Playground Manager, Katy Anderson, said:

This money will be such a big support to the children and young people that access our playground, especially as the challenges of COVID-19 and restrictions have continued into the new year. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have worked hard to ensure that disabled children are not left behind and continue to have space they need to safely socialise with their peers, learn from others and support their development. Thanks to the funding from Derwent London Community Fund, the new lighting will enable us to offer more outdoor activities and sessions as we continue to comply with government guidance.
