National Three Peaks Challenge The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland, often within 24 hours. The Open event is the perfect way for small groups and individuals to take part in the Challenge. On these dates, we group together individuals and small groups of a similar level of fitness, to complete the challenge together, with the help of our mountain guides and support staff. In addition to the National Three Peaks Challenge there is the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge, which takes in the three peaks of Wales: Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) in the North, Cadair Idris in mid-Wales, and Pen y Fan in the South. The Welsh Three Peaks includes a total walking distance of 17 miles (27.4km) and an ascent of around 1500 metres (4920ft), usually in less than 24-hours. Also, there is the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge which takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is 24-miles long, and includes 5,200ft (1,585m) of ascent.
