Making a difference to some of the most disadvantaged children in the UK
Your support will help us do more to support disabled children in Hull. On the 30th anniversary of KIDS work in the region, there is more than ever to do. Of the 30,000 disabled children in the wider Yorkshire area, which Hull comes under, nearly 40% are living in poverty.

There is clear evidence that helping disabled children fulfil their potential can have a societal impact on reducing poverty and isolation and increasing integration, education and improved mental health. The reduction of poverty can also help reduce the number of children becoming disabled.  According to the NHS Information Centre ‘there is a two way relationship between disability and poverty in childhood. Disabled children are amongst the most likely to experience poverty, and children from poorer backgrounds are more likely to become disabled than those who are better off.

Your support will help a generation of disabled children build their confidence, develop friendships and find their place in society, giving them a greater chance of being able to live happy, independent lives in the future.
