The outbreak of the Coronavirus is affecting everyone’s lives differently and with this it is very important to make sure everyone is looking after their mental health.

We have put together a list of small acts of kindness that you can do to cheer yourself up as well as your friends and family.

  • Call a friend that you haven’t spoken to for a while – Right now is a good time to check in on any friends you haven’t spoken to for a while. It might even make their day!
  • Check on someone you know who is going through a tough time – Many people are having a difficult time social distancing. Reach out to someone that may be going through a tough time.
  • Cook for the people in your household - Offer to cook for the people in your household or to send someone a takeaway or a meal
  • Arrange to have a video lunch with a colleague – Don’t let social distancing let you feel disconnected from work. Arrange a lunch date to catch up
  • Offer to skill share with a friend via video call - You can spend time with your friends teaching each other a new skill such as guitar, dance routine or maybe something you have always wanted to learn – like a new language
  • Offer support to vulnerable neighbours - During this unsettling time, it's vital to keep in mind those who need us the most. You can offer to collect shopping, medication or other essential supplies or just phone to ‘check in and chat’ to help prevent loneliness. Check your local council’s website about how to support and volunteer in your community
  • Arrange to watch a film at the same time as a friend and video call – there is a lot of ways to continue to connect with your friends while social distancing. You can use Netflix Party to watch a movie while connecting with your friends.

Pay it forward

If someone does something nice for you, pay it forward and do something nice for someone else! It doesn't matter how simple it is, a random act of kindness can really brighten someone’s day. Continue to think kind and be kind.
