Andy is one of 40 people taking part in the London Marathon this year as a challenge to mark his 56th birthday. He decided to join team KIDS and raise money for our services as he recently became a grandad and thinks the work we do is so vital and important.

Here are his top 5 fundraising tips:

Tip #1: Ask every person that you know - don't be shy, you will be surprised how many people are willing to give

Tip #2: Advertise how people can make a donation in as many places as possible - I complete 10K runs every month all over the country and had my own t-shirts made with all my sponsorship details on. Complete strangers have given me donations

Tip #3: Get your employer involved - I added all my sponsorship details to my business cards, (with the director’s permission). It means every customer and supplier has been given a card at some point

Tip #4: Ask your local contacts for potential raffle prizes - I was lucky enough to be gifted a TV from a supplier and so we are running a sweep for £2 a go. The person who guesses the closest finishing time on the actual day will win the TV

Tip #5: Keep people updated – I try to update the Just Giving page every week. This keeps people in the loop with my progress on training and they can see any donations made
