Deepak shares how he trained for the London Marathon and why he is running for KIDS

I found out about KIDS online and was amazed by all the good work they do supporting disabled children and their families. I wanted to find a way to support their great work and decided to run the London Marathon and fundraise for them.

I have ran four marathons before but London is very special. I enjoy the challenge, the commitment to training and then the celebration of the day.

When the marathon was cancelled in April 2020, I decided to complete it by running around my small garden. It felt more like an assault course! Once things had eased u picked up my training on the streets of London. I really enjoyed it because the roads were a lot quieter with less traffic.

Staying motivated has been hard and the weather hasn’t helped. I’ve tried to focus on the day and the crowds and what an amazing day it would be.

The thing I am looking forward to most on the day is seeing friends and family and just enjoying the moment. The crowd is always inspirational and the noise they make carries you.

My top three tips to get through training for the London Marathon are:

  1. Good music
  2. Good trainers
  3. Trying different routes
