Our West Midlands Young Transition, which runs for 13-25 year olds, had a recent visit from Kyle from Nugent Education  who gave them a talk about the history of rap and beat boxing before teaching them how to beat box. He wrote down different sounds and pointed to them and the young people put the sounds together to beat box.

The group were then asked to write down their favourite food and drink which Kyle turned it into a rap. Kyle then challenged the group to write a list of their favourite things and turn that into a rhyming rap. With the help of staff, they took it in turns to perform their rap to everyone. The final test was to come as they had half an hour where they took control of the mic playing and singing along to a range of songs.

It was an enjoyable workshop for our group of 16 young people who had a great time and picked up some new skills.
