Learning and resources

KIDS has over ten years experience of providing learning resources, research and delivering successful national projects with a significant focus on play and leisure as well as the participation and inclusion of disabled children and young people through its National Development Department.

The National Development Department is set up to deliver effective responses to national government priorities while still retaining our values and ethos, focusing on our mission towards a society that includes all disabled children, young people and their families.

At the end of March 2013 KIDS delivered its Making it Personal project, a two-years work funded by the Department for Education to provide support and advice to for parents and carers of disabled children and young people and also to commissioners, about personalisation and personal budgets.

To follow up this work the Department of Education has funded a further two years work (Making it Personal:2) aimed at supporting families and carers of disabled children, commissioners of services, providers and all associated organisations in exploring how personal budgets can be used to improve the lives of disabled children. We will also look at how the local offer is being used to support disabled children who do not have access to a personal budget.
