2008 £100,000 raised in a year!

In the summer of 2008, KIDS purchased new premises as its Yorkshire and Humber regional office.

The move took place on the 21st anniversary of KIDS delivering services within the Yorkshire region, giving Janice, the regional fundraiser, an ideal opportunity to raise KIDS' profile. As a result of the efforts of Janice and her team, more than £100,000 was raised in that year alone.

The move has proved a great success so far, with commissioned services increasing from £450,000 to £1.3 million over a two-year period. In addition to the increase in service delivery, various improvements have been made to the building over the last two years. Firstly, businesses supported KIDS to develop a fully accessible changing area with ceiling track hoist, height adjustable bed and toilet area.

This year, the region has been supported by local businesses and trusts to build a large conservatory meeting room. This has been in constant use by parents, staff, and young disabled people for meetings and training. Staff have worked hard to develop the garden area which has now been transformed into a pleasant and welcoming, full accessible space. In addition to housing KIDS staff, the building is also used as a base for a multi-agency Transitions team, including a KIDS Transitions Keyworker.

The local community has also become involved in supporting the improvements of the premises with a group of young ‘lifestyle’ volunteers helping out in the garden and local shops fundraising on KIDS' behalf.

You can volunteer in this region and also find out about local events.
