Hull Breaks For Young Carers Fund 2011/2012
NHS Hull has again teamed up with Hull City Council to make financial help available to support young carers get the short breaks they need.
Who’s Eligible?
Young people under the age of 18 living in Hull, who provide: care, assistance, or support to a family member who has a long term illness; disability; mental health difficulties or problems with drugs or alcohol misuse.
The person cared for may be a parent, sibling, grandparent or other relative.
How much can young carers apply for?
- An individual can apply for between £50 and £200.
- A family can apply between £50 and £500
- Only one short break can be funded per family.
Types of things we can fund
We can fund all or part of the cost for a range of activities that could improve you or your families wellbeing by giving you a break from caring, or making your caring role easier. Examples of this are: football lessons, dance lessons, an xbox, a family day out or garden equipment.
Conditions Of Grant
Applicants must be endorsed by a professional who understands the young caring role within the whole family, for example a key worker.
