Parents Consultative Group
The Group was formed by KIDS at the request of the Hull Primary Care Trust Disability Lit Board in March 2007. The Disability Lit Board is a group of senior managers across health, education, social services and the voluntary sector. The Parents Consultative Group has approximately 20 members, with a core group of 12-14 parents who attend most meetings. The Parents have been involved with several consultations with the local authority since it began and parents are beginning to participate in the decision making around the planning of future services for disabled children.
The group aims to provide a non-confrontational setting for parents and carers to meet with senior local authority officers and explore SEN and disability issues and mutual areas of concern. It aims to be a leading consultative group for Hull Children and Young People’s Services with an opportunity for direct discussion to improve the knowledge and understanding of all partners and inform future policy, practice and the commissioning of services; and to establish and develop good partnership relationships between parents, the local authority and related services.
