Some of your most frequently asked questions
If you leave money and possessions worth more than a set value, currently £312,000, your beneficiaries (the people you're leaving it to) may have to pay 40 per cent Inheritance Tax on the amount over that threshold. £312,000 may seem like quite a lot of money, but if you include your home, you could find your savings and possessions add up to a lot more than that.
If you choose to leave a gift to KIDS, the amount you leave is completely up to you. Of course we all need to provide for our family and friends first. KIDS would be very grateful for any amount you are able to afford, as your gift – large or small, will allow us to continue our vital work with disabled children, young people and their families. If you do choose to leave a gift you may wish to consider a residual bequest as it retains its value over the time. Further details about the type of bequest you could leave to KIDS are in the document below.
Simply tell your solicitor that you want to include KIDS in your will and what you want to leave, and they'll make the necessary changes. Along with our name and address, you'll need to tell your solicitor our charity registration number that uniquely identifies us. The information you need is:
6 Aztec Row
Berners Road
London N1 0PW
It's not essential that you tell us, but if you choose to it gives us the opportunity to say thank you. If you would like to let us know you can contact Catherine, our Legacy Manager on 020 7359 3635 or by email at legacies@kids.org.uk. Any information that you give us will be treated in the strictest confidence.
