Adopt a Project

Funding a specific project, programme or post enables your company to match its support to activities which reflect its interests and business objectives.

For example, Mothercare enabled KIDS to provide a Home Learning Worker to visit a family for a whole year while State Street funded part of the Journey to Employment project in Newham.

Some examples of KIDS projects which are in need of funding

Home Learning in LondonPainting at Hayward

Children learn more in the first 5 years of life then any other time.  For children with impairments learning takes much longer with many having to be taught basic skills that others take for granted.  Home Learning gives families the expertise and support they need to become their child’s most important teacher.  An experienced Home Learning Worker visits families at home to develop parent’s skills to enable them to give their child the best possible care.

KIDS Adventure Playgrounds

KIDS introduced adventure play for disabled children into the UK in the 1970’s and today our five inclusive playgrounds continue to provide a safe and secure environment where disabled children can play in a space that recognises and supports their needs.  KIDS needs support to run our playgrounds and can offer companies the opportunity of branding at each site.

Journey to Employment

Journey into Employment works with 16 to 18 year olds with a range of impairments and learning difficulties. Our goal is to give these young adults the confidence to enter the job market and start their adult life with the tools required to be independent.  Many disabled young people want to work but need help to find the right path, which is where KIDS comes in.

Financial Literacy Project Manager

  • 55% of families with disabled children are living at the margins of poverty – more than four times other households
  • 84% of families are in debt compared with 47% of all households
  • 16% of disabled children’s mothers work full or part-time compared with 61% of all mothers

Many families with disabled children struggle financially and many are unaware of the services and support that are available to improve their financial position and quality of life.

Please help KIDS fund a financial literacy programme in your area to offer advice and guidance to families struggling financially to bring up a disabled child.

These are just four examples of projects which your company can support with KIDS Adopt a Project campaign.
