Centre of Excellence
The KIDS Centre of Excellence (COE) supports and promotes the development of excellence in the inclusion of disabled children and young people in children’s and young people’s services.
We work with people who want to make their services or settings more inclusive for disabled children and young people. We work with individuals and groups, voluntary, statutory and privately owned play, youth and childcare settings and commissioners of services, as well as commercial play companies.
We aim to do this by:
- Providing information and advice about good inclusive practice, and disseminating this as widely as possible;
- Offering personalised consultancy and mentoring to local authorities, play companies and individual settings with regard to developing excellence relating to inclusion;
- Collecting a wide range of creative examples of how inclusion has been developed in a variety of settings and services;
- Conducting new and innovative research into quality inclusion through collaborations with research experts.
