Progress

Progress your workforce. Accredited training for the voluntary and

community sector young people's workforce                 CWDC logo

KIDS is one of five National Delivery Partners currently working on the Progress project. The project is being delivered on behalf of Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC’s) Young People’s Workforce Reform Programme Board (comprising of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services, Department for Education and CWDC) by a partnership led by the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS).

The purpose of Progress is to build workforce capacity by enhancing the skills and training of those working with young people in the voluntary and community sector. It is offering 25,000 accredited training opportunities for volunteers and paid staff both locally, regionally and nationally.

The training delivered is consistent and accessible to learners in England and is being supplied by both local and national training providers who will have been taught specifically to deliver it.

An accessible and appropriate curriculum for the training has been developed with the help of the five National Delivery Partners. All training is accredited and can build towards qualifications, with many course units offered which will enhance the skills of people working with disabled children and young people. These include units such as ‘Equality and Diversity’, ‘Working within a play environment with children and young people’ and ‘Promoting equality and inclusion’.

Progress Project Update:

Don’t miss out on subsidised accredited training for your workforce – only available until March 2011

The Progress project provides a subsidy for accredited training for staff and volunteers in the VCS working with young people. Available only until March, all training offered is on the Qualifications and Credits Framework (QCF) and builds towards full qualifications. Learners are able to access multiple units, with many of our training providers offering tailored and unique packages of training.

It’s really easy to get started with Progress. If you’re interested in finding what training might benefit you take our self-assessment exercise. And if you are a voluntary organisation considering training for your staff and/or volunteers, remember accredited training not only sends a strong signal about the quality of your workforce to funders and commissioners, it also demonstrates your commitment to the professional development of your staff and volunteers.

Voluntary sector training providers interested in getting involved should read this. And for key contact details please contact a member of the Progress team at the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS).
