Key working

The key worker service is offered to those families who have a child with severe and complex needs and who have a number of professionals involved with their child. The key worker will work in partnership with families to oversee and coordinate the delivery of these services and will provide families with a single point of contact for information, advice, emotional and practical support.

A key worker will:

  • Be the first point of contact for advice and information.
  • Provide support to your family.
  • Signpost you to relevant information, services and agencies.
  • Be the first point of contact for other professionals and agencies working with you.
  • Visit or contact you on a regular basis at a time and place agreed between you and the key worker.
  • Identify gaps in services and ensure appropriate referrals to services
  • Attend review meetings with you.
  • Monitor current plans for your child.
  • Ensure equality and promote you, the parents or carers, as equal partners.
  • Be available during normal working hours.
