New KIDS family space
3 Jun 2010
Following a year of intensive work, the conservatory has been completed thanks to the dedicated effort by staff at Vivergo Fuels and the generous donations of charitable trusts and organisations – who between them raised over £ 30,000. The remaining funds will be used to support some of the projects which will take place in the new dedicated space.
The conservatory will provide a much needed meeting and training facility for KIDS’ Parent Forums, parent training and team meetings, as well as for external agencies and organisations. Measuring 4.5m by 6.5m, the new facility will include a projector and screen for power point presentations, DVD footage and photographs. The room will also be used by a group of young disabled people on a weekly basis.
Block paving and landscaping in the garden (also funded as part of this project) means that the garden is now fully accessible for wheelchairs users and buggies. The region supports approx 1,200 families per year, mostly via outreach services.
Sue Cawkwell, Regional Director of KIDS (Hull), said, "The conservatory extension will make a huge difference to everyone using the facilities here at KIDS including parents, disabled young people and staff. I would like to say a huge thank you for all the support we have received in making this project possible."
