KIDS’ Adventure Playgrounds provide an opportunity for stimulating and inclusive play on a closed access site. Priority is given to children and young people with specific requirements and their siblings. However, young people within the right age range who live in the surrounding communities are also welcome.

Our Playgrounds vary in size however they all have a wide range of equipment including soft play, zip wires, sensory rooms, nest swings, climbing frames, tree houses, bikes and trailers. They are all securely fenced, providing a safe environment where children can explore freely.

"I have known KIDS Hackney Adventure Playground for many years, most recently in my role of Play Development Manager for Young Hackney, part of Children’s Services in Hackney Council, where I have worked for the last 8 years.

Over this time KIDS Hackney Adventure Playground have consistently provided excellent, high quality adventure play services to disabled children and young people in the area.

The staff team at the playground are experienced, qualified and professional, and have a great commitment to providing play opportunities that are mostly unavailable elsewhere for these children.

This is a vital service to the community that they serve. Not only providing a rich play environment for children to play, learn and develop, but also managing to put inclusion at the forefront of their activities and provide the specialist support required that ensures that no child misses out on these opportunities due to their special needs or disability.

The playground is consistently well run and managed, with a large pool of part time staff and volunteers who are dedicated to their work and passionate about providing services that many mainstream children would take for granted."

How does the service work?

The openly structured environment at the Hackney Playground promotes self independence and freedom of choice whilst sharing a social experience with others.

Supported by qualified and trained staff, we aim to provide children using the playground with equal access to all activities.   Our Hackney Adventure Playground is child led and child-centred, this means play is personally directed by the children so they choose when, how and what they play with. This means they have a sense of ownership which enables them to make choices, develop friendships and have fun.

Who is the service for?

Priority is given to disabled children and young people and their siblings aged between 5 and 19 years. However, young people within the age range living in the surrounding community are welcome.

Children must be registered to attend.
