Southwark office garden gets a face-lift with the help of Irwin Mitchell LLP

16 January 2015
KIDS was delighted to welcome 10 volunteers from Irwin Mitchell LLP to our new Southwark office garden to assist with its renovation last week.

Volunteers spent the day jet washing the patio tiles, weeding and trim back bushes in the flower beds, planting flowers and painting plant pots and wall murals. The aim of the day was to make the garden into a vibrant, usable space that KIDS Southwark Siblings project could utilise through the year – a project that provides vital support to approximately 150 siblings of disabled children across the borough in the form of mentoring, activity groups and workshops.

Irwin Mitchell Volunteers were also joined in the afternoon by 10 of the siblings we support in the borough, who came along to the centre straight from school and were excited to have the opportunity to assist with the final stages of painting.

Nikki Smith, co-ordinator of KIDS Southwark Siblings project, said “We are extremely grateful to the team at Irwin Mitchell for offering their time and resources to improve our garden space. Thanks to their hard work this is now a brilliant space that the siblings of disabled children we support will be able to utilise and enjoy as a base for a wide variety of activities throughout the coming year.”

Juanita Cumberland, Associate Solicitor at Irwin Mitchell, said It was lovely watching Nikki and the rest of the KIDS Southwark team with the children, and to see how happy the children are in their company and at the centre generally. Peckham is very lucky to have the new KIDS’ Southwark centre.”
