KIDS benefits from North Sea rig fundraising

25 February 2014

KIDS services in Hull have benefitted from a fantastic donation of £4,768 from the staff at the North Sea drilling rig, Noble Byron Welliver, which is located off-shore out of Humberside.  Ted and Tim from the rig presented the funds to Janice and Claire, the fundraising team at KIDS Yorkshire and Humber.

The donation came about from their annual Christmas raffle and the guys on the rig dug deep into their pockets to raise an incredible  sum of money.  The money was then matched by their employers Noble & Centrica.  The final sum has been split between KIDS and another charity with KIDS receiving close to £5,000 from their generosity.

KIDS was nominated by Ted Barlow who has just retired from the rig.  He particularly wanted to support a children’s charity and as he has two family members who have been affected by disability he wanted to support a cause to do with disability.  He did a little bit of research, found KIDS and immediately felt the donation should come to KIDS.  Ted was delighted to learn that £500 would be enough to sponsor one child on one of our projects for a whole year so the donation would mean that nearly 10 children would benefit from the fundraising effort.

The fundraising team at KIDS in Hull will be sending photographs and art work from the children as a thank you and look forward to keeping in touch with the guys at the rig.
