Following on from our successful event in 2012, with celebrity chef Marco Pierre White, we are again hosting a cooking competition for Young Carers, The KIDS' TASTE TOURNAMENT, where teams of two, including a Young Carer, compete.
All local schools have been invited to participate in this Bracknell wide interschool competition. The aim is to raise awareness of the Bracknell Forest Young Carers, to inform schools of free services available to pupils and promote Healthy Eating as part of a fun competition where qualifying teams will have the opportunity to work with a celebrity chef.
The KIDS Bracknell Young Carers project attends schools to provide teacher training and/or present to an assembly, enabling school staff and young people to identify Young Carers within their schools. There is an estimated 300-500 unidentified Young Carers in Bracknell, that do not have the extra support they are entitled to in recognition of their additional responsibilities caring for a disabled sibling.
Closing date for competition entries is the 23 May 2014. We will announce teams going through to the finals by the 9 June 2014 to allow teams plenty of time for practice and preparation before the big day on the 19 July 2014 when we make it all happen!
The overall winning team will receive a book signed by the celebrity chef on the day and their schools name added to the Annual trophy which can be displayed at their school until next year.
All those taking part in the finals will receive a free gift and have an amazing day guaranteed. All finalist schools will receive a cook book made up of all the finalist recipes.
