The Parents’ Forum works to ensure that parents and carers of disabled children and children with additional needs have a voice that shapes services in Wakefield and District.

How does the service work?

The Parents' Forum provides an opportunity where you can meet other people and find out information about what's happening in Wakefield, in our region and also what's happening nationally. The group looks to build on what is already happening in Wakefield and ensure that parents’ views are listened to in any future planning and developments.  Most importantly, the group wants to provide a positive focus on what may be negative or difficult subjects to work toward solutions for problems.

Who is the service for?

Membership available to parents and carers of disabled children and young people up to 25 years old living within the Wakefield District.

What does the service provide?

The Forum aims to ensure the invaluable views of parents and carers are heard and to make their views count towards the improvement of services for our children.

The direct discussions with senior managers within the local authority and health services promotes the planning, commissioning and delivery of services in the city and region.

When does it happen?

Events and meetings will be held throughout the Wakefield district.
